Texas A&M Aggies have added a new commitment to their 2027 class with 4-star wide receiver Eric McFarland III choosing the Aggies over Florida and Georgia.
The commitment was announced on a CBS Sports HQ broadcast, with McFarland citing the team's come-from-behind win against South Carolina last season as a key factor in his decision.
The 5-foot-8, 177-pound receiver was the MVP of the 2026 Polynesian Bowl, catching four passes for 66 yards, and is also an Under Armour All-American.
McFarland's commitment is a significant boost to the Aggies' 2027 class, which currently ranks No. 1 in the country, according to 247Sports, with 25 commits, including two five-star recruits and 14 four-star recruits.
He is the fourth wide receiver to commit to the class, alongside Jaden Upshaw, Damani Warren, and Trey Haddad.
The Aggies will look to build on this momentum as they prepare for their next game against Missouri State Bears on 2026-09-05.
McFarland said he committed during his official visit on May 28 and shared a "wholesome moment" with head coach Mike Elko and offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins.
Wiggins' move from wide receivers coach to offensive coordinator this year was another reason for McFarland's interest, he said.
Elko's pitch during his visit was real, without any salesmanlike tactics, McFarland said.
And McFarland is excited to be a part of the Aggies' culture, which he saw in action during their comeback win against South Carolina.
But the Aggies still have work to do to stay on top, with a tough schedule ahead.
So the commitment of McFarland is a welcome addition to the team.
The Aggies' 2027 class is led by five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews of St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
